UPPER EAST SIDE, NY — It was a busy week for the luxury real estate market on the Upper East Side, with 12 deals closing over the $4 million mark, according to the latest data from the Olshan Report.
The most expensive home on the Upper East Side sold this week was a townhouse on East 76th Street, which sold for $16,000,000, the Olshan Report said.
The chart-topping townhouse is located at 16 East 76th St., between Madison Avenue and Park Avenue.
Built in 1902, the townhouse was designed by noted architects Hoppin & Koen for prominent lawyer Moncure Robinson. Decades later, it passed through the hands of the Gucci family, who sold it to designer Calvin Klein, who ultimately sold the property to the Republic of Italy for use as its ambassador to the United Nations residence.
Spanning more than 10,000 square feet across six levels, the nearly full-lot townhouse packs in 16 rooms, including six bedrooms, six bathrooms, two powder rooms and an elevator.
The home also has historic features, including several wood-burning fireplaces, a marble-lined entrance hall, and a sweeping staircase.
Here are the Upper East Side's top five contracts from April 20 - April 26.
