UPPER EAST SIDE, NY — A new bakery and café is opening on York Avenue this summer, bringing pastries made from slow-fermented dough, as well as coffee and matcha.
Dän Bakery and Cafe will open in the former Julien Boulengerie space on York Avenue between East 75th Street and East 76th Street, according to a post from the bakery on Instagram.
The bakery currently has one other location in Morristown, New Jersey, according to the bakery's website.
The name for the bakery comes from the Kazakh word for "seed," representing "the belief that great baking starts long before the oven through slow fermentation, careful preparation, and an uncompromising baking process," the bakery's website reads.
The cafe features a full breakfast and lunch menu, with savory omelettes, Syrniki (Russian-style pancakes), beef samsa, hearty sandwiches, salads and soups.
The menu also features sweet treats galore, including honey cake, croissants, tiramisu and more. Per the East Side Feed, the bakery will open sometime in July.
The new bakery and cafe will be located at 1431 York Ave.
