UPPER EAST SIDE, NY — A former Billiards hall on East 86th Street will be reincarnated this fall when it reopens as ID Hot Yoga, a boutique fitness studio, its owner told Patch.
ID Hot Yoga, the brand taking over Eastside Billiards & Bar on East 86th Street between Lexington and Third avenues, will have space for 75 mats in the room, making it the small brand's biggest studio yet, owner Kelly Isaac told Patch.
Isaac said many of her clients at her other studios have fond memories of the billiards hall.
"There's so many people like, 'Oh my God, I used to take my kids there,' or 'My husband and I used to date there,'" Isaac said. "It'll be nice to see some people coming back into the space as a yoga studio in 2026 that had experienced it in its former existence."
In addition to sequence-based yoga classes, the studio will also have mat Pilates, a sculpt class, and a cold plunge, Isaac said.
"Even though you know you'll have practitioners of all different levels in any one class, we really try to just make it more about being able to come into the space and be in a warm, inviting space, non-judgmental, just really focused on getting a good yoga experience."
ID Hot Yoga has a few other locations downtown in Manhattan, in Meatpacking, the Financial District, NoMad, and the Lower East Side. The brand also has two locations out east in Sag Harbor and East Hampton.
"There's a huge amount of crossover in our clientele between the Hamptons and the Upper East Side," Isaac said. "We're always getting asked when we're going to open on the Upper East since our first season in the Hamptons."
The studio is targeting a mid-October opening date, Isaac said.
"It's a really fantastic space," Isaac said. "It's just such a wonderful part of New York."
ID Hot Yoga will be located at 163 East 86th St.
