Motorcyclist Critically Injured In UES Crash, Police Say

UPPER EAST SIDE, NY — A 63-year-old motorcyclist is in critical condition after a crash early Wednesday on the Upper East Side, New York City Police Department officials said.

According to the NYPD, the motorcyclist was heading downtown on FDR Drive in the right lane on a Suzuki at 1:42 a.m. when a 32-year-old man driving a Nissan SUV with TLC plates crossed into the right lane to exit at East 63rd Street.

While crossing to the exit, the SUV struck the back of the motorcycle, and the 63-year-old was thrown into the road, where he sustained severe head trauma, police said.

Medics rushed the 63-year-old to NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center in critical condition, police said.

The SUV driver remained on the scene and was uninjured, police said.

Police said no arrests have been made yet, and the investigation is underway.
