UPPER EAST SIDE, NY — T.J. Maxx, the discount retailer, is bringing its racks of endlessly browseable designer clothes, home decor and other cheap thrills to a new location on the Upper East Side.
The new store will open in the vacant space at 150 East 86th St., between Lexington and Third avenues, where H&M operated for 16 years before closing for good in January.
The T.J. Maxx will span 29,000 square feet and was the largest storefront to be rented in the city this quarter, according to CBRE's quarterly report, first reported by the Commercial Observer.
There's no word on when the new T.J. Maxx will open, but once it does, the shop will join a busy retail corridor that includes other national brands like Target, Old Navy, Ulta Beauty and more.
The new store will be T.J. Maxx's second location in the neighborhood, following the location on East 59th Street and First Avenue.
