Cult-Favorite Froyo Chain Myka Reveals UES Opening Date

The Instagram-famous chain will bring Greek yogurt, goat's milk kefir and Mediterranean-inspired toppings to East 80th Street.

UPPER EAST SIDE, NY — Myka, a global frozen yogurt chain known for its long lines and Instagrammable swirls of dairy, is opening its highly anticipated Upper East Side outpost this weekend.

The new shop, located at Second Avenue and East 80th Street, will open on Saturday where Ania Rybka Salon had previously been.

"Attention, Upper East Siders: This Saturday, October 24th, a new obsession is coming to the neighborhood," the brand wrote on Instagram.

Unlike the sugary frozen yogurt that dominated the previous froyo boom, Myka, which has locations in West Village, Union Square and Midtown, puts a tangy Mediterranean spin on the frozen treat, using Greek yogurt and goat's milk kefir.

Toppings include praline crunch, baklava, fig and orange compotes, as well as cookies, goji berries, pistachio sauce, honey and olive oil.

The new shop will join other recently opened froyo spots on the Upper East Side, like Mythos, which opened this June at First Avenue and East 68th Street, and Mimi's, which opened in September at Lexington Avenue and East 72nd Street.

Myka was founded in Madrid in 2023 by husband-and-wife duo Natalia Morales and Javier Ezquerro, and has since expanded to 51 locations in 15 countries.

The duo named their project Myka, a Latin word meaning "to shine."

"That shine represents who we are: the light of the Mediterranean, the clarity of our ingredients, and the positive energy we want to share with every person who visits us," the website reads.

Myka is located at 1547 Second Ave.
