Armed Robbers Lock Cellphone Store Employees In Bathroom, Police Say

The alleged robbers stole thousands from the Upper East Side store's cash box while the employees were detained.

UPPER EAST SIDE, NY — Police are trying to identify to suspects wanted in connection with the armed robbery of an Upper East Side cellphone store.

Police released surveillance photos of two men accused of robbing a Metro PCS on First Avenue near East 91st Street. One of the men entered the store around 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 13, and brandished a firearm, police said. The man then directed two store employees, ages 27 and 46, into a bathroom and kept watch on the employees, police said.

A second man then entered the store and removed $2,000 from the store's cash box, police told Patch. The two suspects then fled the store in an unknown direction, police said.

The suspects (pictured above) are men in their 20s, police told Patch. Police did not have any more details about the men.
