'Bicoastal Bank Bandit' Arrested On Upper East Side, Police Say
The robber knocked over several banks in New York City and Los Angeles in recent months, police said.

UPPER EAST SIDE, NY — A man accused of robbing several banks in New York City and Los Angeles was arrested Wednesday after robbing two banks on the Upper East Side, police told Patch.
Jon Waulters, 50, has been charged with 7 counts of robbery, police told Patch. Since March 9, Waulters has robbed at least five New York City Banks, police said. In addition to allegedly robbing banks on both coasts, Waulters was known for his shoddy sports loyalty — switching between Mets and Yankee caps as his go-to disguise.
On Wednesday, Waulters started his bank robbing routine by hitting an HSBC Bank on Third Avenue and East 68th Street around 4 p.m., police said. The robbery was unsuccessful and Waulters fled the bank, police said. About 15 minutes later, Waulters robbed a Capital One Bank on Second Avenue and East 68th Street and got away with an undetermined amount of cash, police said.
