Kate invites you to the "A New Horizon Art" exhibition at the Kate Oh Gallery

Kate Oh Gallery is proud to present: A New Horizon Art exhibition, by Changki Jung, on view from August 24 to 30, 2025. 

The opening reception will be held on Sunday, August 24, from 3 to 5 PM.

Using the calligraphy brush as a “tool of thought,” Jung harmonizes the spirituality of the East with the abstract expressionism of the West. His work draws from Daoist philosophy, yin-yang cosmology, and the meditative void of Korean landscape painting, reinterpreting these traditions through contemporary abstraction and the vibrant color sensibilities of Korea.

Following his acclaimed 2023 solo exhibition poesie in Paris, where French audiences embraced his work as “painting of thought” rather than mere Orientalism, Jung now brings his vision to New York—the global capital of art and cultural exchange. The exhibition will debut new works that merge layered color fields with interactive calligraphy performance, inviting audiences to experience a dynamic meeting of philosophy, tradition, and contemporary form.

Changki Jung’s practice transcends painting, embodying the unity of poetry, calligraphy, and image. His art expands the identity of Korean contemporary art into a global context, offering a vibrant evolution beyond the monochrome minimalism of Dansaekhwa.
