KICKS OFF MADISON AVENUE B.I.D.’S ANNUAL
WELCOME BACK SATURDAY ON SEPTEMBER 20
Models will “step-up” on platforms in front of participating stores
for a showing of fall fashion from 1PM to 3pm!
The 2nd Annual Step Up For Fashion returns as the centerpiece for WELCOME BACK SATURDAY – Madison Avenue’s annual event to celebrate the return to fall fashion and shopping.
Organized by the Madison Avenue B.I.D. in its tradition of offering a philanthropic component to public events, Step Up For Fashion will benefit the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) and its Scholarship Fund that supports the next generation of fashion designers.
On Saturday, September 20, participating retailers will sponsor a Step Up For Fashion “platform style show” with a model in front of their stores at 1pm, 2pm and 3pm and host in-store shopping and styling events to benefit the CFDA Scholarship Fund. Participating stores will donate 10% of sales to the Fund and welcome customers to step inside to view the new collections and put together fall looks with assistance from their in-house stylists and personal shoppers.
At 12:30pm, Steven Kolb, CFDA Chief Executive Officer and President, and CFDA executives will deliver opening remarks from the Step Up For Fashion stage located on Madison Avenue at East 68th Street surrounded by models from participating brands. From 1pm - 4pm, the public can also walk the red carpet and pose for a complimentary photo taken by fashion photographer, Andrew Werner, in front of the step-and-repeat at the second Step Up For Fashion stage located on Madison Avenue between East 76th and East 67th
Streets.
“Fashion on Madison Avenue is certainly all about artistry, craft and style, but it is also about connectivity, gracious hospitality & philanthropy,” said Matthew Bauer, President of the Madison Avenue Business Improvement District (BID). “Step Up For Fashion showcases our boutiques’ collections in a warm, welcoming and accessible manner, while supporting the next generation of design leaders through the CFDA’s Scholarship Fund.”
