Car Bursts Into Flames on Upper East Side Portion of FDR Drive
Firefighters responded to a flaming car on the FDR near 96th Street and were able to contain the blaze quickly.

UPPER EAST SIDE, NY — A car erupted into flames on the FDR Drive the Upper East Side on Sunday night.
Firefighters responded to the fire on the FDR Drive and East 96th Street around 5:33 p.m. and had the fire under control by 6:18 p.m., a spokesman from the FDNY told Patch. Nobody was injured during the fire and the FDNY spokesman said traffic returned to normal on the FDR Drive by the time firefighters left the scene.
As to why the car caught on fire, the FDNY had a simple explanation.

"It's a car fire. So the cause is that the car caught on fire," an FDNY spokesman said.
