ICYMI: Construction Halted At Upper East Side Building After Collapse Injures One
One person suffered injuries after a ceiling collapsed at a building under renovation on Park Avenue.
UPPER EAST SIDE, NY — The Department of Buildings has stopped construction on an Upper East Side building after one person was injured during a weekend ceiling collapse, according to the department's website.
The DOB will conduct a structural stability inspection at 1065 Park Avenue — located between East 87th and 88th streets — to determine whether construction can resume at the building, which is currently under renovation. The building also has an open "work without a permit" violation from the DOB, which could result in civil penalties on the building owner.
One person was injured Saturday morning when part of the building's ceiling collapsed, CBS New York reported. The person — who was not identified — was treated for minor injuries at Lenox Hill Hospital, according to the report.
