Elderly Woman Assaulted In Second Avenue Subway: Police

The woman was allegedly shoved and punched in an elevator at the Second Avenue and East 86th Street station.

UPPER EAST SIDE, NY — Police are trying to identify a woman suspected of assaulting an elderly woman in an elevator in the Second Avenue and East 86 Street subway station on the Upper East Side.

The suspect and the 71-year-old victim got into a verbal argument while standing on the subway platform and waiting for the elevator, police told Patch. When the two entered the elevator the altercation became physical, police said.

The younger woman allegedly shoved the victim and punched her on the left side of her body, police said. When the elevator reached its destination the suspect fled the scene in an unknown direction, police said.

The 71-year-old woman refused medical attention at the scene of the attack, police told Patch.

Police described the suspect (pictured above) as a 28-year-old woman standing 5-foot-6. The suspect was wearing her hair in braids and was last seen wearing a green jacket, blue jeans, black sneakers, black hoodie, glasses and a tan bag, police said.
