M86 SBS Service Restored To Second Avenue: MTA
After the MTA delayed construction, passengers will once again be able to get on the M86 SBS at East 86th Street and Second Avenue.

UPPER EAST SIDE, NY — Months after the Second Avenue Subway opened, bus service has finally been restored to to Second Avenue and East 86th Street, the MTA announced Friday.
Ticket machines were installed Thursday and the M86 Select Bus Service started making pickups at the Second Avenue stop Friday. The restored bus line will transport passengers crosstown via 86th Street, cutting through Central Park.
The route starts on Broadway and West 86th Street, cuts through Central Park, and continues down East 86th Street, according to the MTA. The bus also makes some stops on York Avenue and on East 91st Street and First Avenue as it loops around to head back down 86th Street.

Upper East Side residents had eagerly awaited the return of the bus stop since construction on the East 86th Street stop of the Second Avenue Subway was completed at the beginning of the year. Numerous Community Board 8 transportation committee meetings focused on the restoration of bus stops taken out of commission during the construction.
Passengers on the M86 SBS will be able to transfer to the Second Avenue Subway as well as the M15 bus lines which travel north and south on First and Second avenues.
