Plastic Surgery Office For Men Only Coming To UES, Report Says

The Club House caters to the 8 to 10 percent of men that make up the United States' cosmetic surgery patients.

UPPER EAST SIDE, NY — The world of Upper East Side cosmetic surgery is about to get a lot manlier. Plastic surgeon Norman Rowe is opening a new neighborhood office called the Club House, which hopes to cater to the needs of the 8 to 10 percent of men that make up the United States' cosmetic surgery patients, the New York Times first reported.

The Club House opens Dec. 26 and features male-focused offerings such as poker nights, a widescreen TV playing ESPN and cotton jackets instead of robes Rowe told the Times.

"As far as plastic surgery goes, men are kind of an underserved population," Rowe told the Times. "They want a place where they can be a little bit more themselves. Straight or gay, they want to do something to better themselves."

About 22 percent of Rowe's clients are men, and many of them expressed feeling uncomfortable or embarrassed when visiting an office full of women, the Times reported. Rowe's male patients often had a hard time explaining their desires to female staff, especially when it came to penis enlargement procedures, Rowe told the Times.

To provide a "safe space" for its male patients, all of the attending staff at the Club House will be men, Rowe told the Times.

"They want a man to answer the phone," Rowe told the Times. "They want to sit next to a guy, they want to watch sports on TV and not listen to Michael Bublé on the radio."
