The man said he was in an Upper East Side subway station when the escalator malfunctioned, throwing him down and causing severe injuries.

UPPER EAST SIDE, NY — A New York couple filed a lawsuit seeking monetary damages after the husband says he was thrown down a malfunctioning escalator at a subway station on the Upper East Side.
Wladyslaw and Janina Wloch filed a case in the Supreme Court of the State of New York against the city, the Metropolitan Transportation Authority, and the New York City Transit Authority.
Court documents state Wladyslaw was on an escalator in the 72nd Street and Second Avenue subway station in August 2020 when it malfunctioned, "violently propelling" him to the bottom and "resulting in severe and permanent personal injuries."
