Man Tries, Fails To Rob Upper East Side Bank, Police Say

The man walked into a Bank of America on Lexington Avenue and East 79th Street Monday with the intention of robbing the bank.

UPPER EAST SIDE, NY — The NYPD is trying to identity a wannabe bank robber who tried to knock over an Upper East Side bank Monday morning, police told Patch.

Shortly after 9 a.m. Monday a man walked into a Bank of America branch on the corner of Lexington Avenue and East 79th Street and approached a teller, police said. The man slipper the teller a note demanding money, but the brave bank employee had other ideas, police said.

The teller simply walked away from the service window, leaving the would-be robber rejected, police told Patch. The man eventually fled the bank in an unknown location, police told said.

Police are looking for a man in his 30s (pictured above) who stands 5-foot-7 and weighs about 160 pounds. The man has dark hair, green eyes and is clean shaven, police said. He was last seen wearing a white shirt, a black v-neck sweater, dark colored pants and dark colored boots.
