Police Seek Woman In Violent Robbery In UES Subway Station

UPPER EAST SIDE, NY — Police asked for the public's help in identifying a woman accused of violently robbing another woman in an Upper East Side subway station this week.

Around 8:50 p.m. inside the Lexington Avenue–63rd Street station, the suspect approached a 61-year-old woman who was sitting down and waiting for the train, according to police.

The two exchanged words, and the suspect pulled the victim to the ground by her hair, police said. The victim tried to leave the station but the suspect again pulled her to the ground by her hair, before taking the woman's pull cart, which contained credit cards, a state ID card and cash, according to police.

The suspect fled in an unknown direction. The victim sustained minor injuries and refused medical attention, police said.

Police described the suspect as a light-skinned adult woman, about 25 years old and 5 feet, 5 or 6 inches tall. She was last seen wearing a black T-shirt and black leggings.
