Power Outages Hit Second Avenue Subway Stations, MTA Says
Third rail power outages at 72nd and 86th Street stations stalled Second Avenue subway trains Friday morning.

UPPER EAST SIDE, NY — Two Second Avenue subway train stations were hit by power outages Friday morning, causing disruptions along the entire subway line, an MTA spokeswoman told Patch.
The third rail between 72nd Street and 86th Street stations lost power around 10:30, an MTA spokeswoman told Patch. After power was briefly restored, the third rail gave out again around 10:40, the spokeswoman said. MTA crews are still on-scene trying to fix the issue.
During the power outage, several subway lines experienced delays and service changes.

Here are the current service changes:
- There is no Q and W train service between 57 St-7 Av and 96 St in both directions.
- Some northbound Q and W trains are terminating at 42 St-Times Sq or 57 St-7 Av.
- As an alternative customers are advised to use the M15, M101, M102 or M103 bus service making nearby station stops.
- Expect delays in R and N train service.
Subway riders took to social media to express their frustration about the brand-new train line losing power.
