Pregnant Woman Hit By Bus On Upper East Side

The bus ran over the woman's leg while making a left turn at East 85th Street and Madison Avenue.

UPPER EAST SIDE, NY — A woman was sent to the hospital Friday after being hit by a charter bus on the Upper East Side, an NYPD spokesman told Patch.

The woman was walking in the intersection of East 85th Street and Madison Avenue around 11:15 a.m. when a bus heading north on Madison Avenue turned left into the intersection, police told Patch. The bus ran over the woman's leg, police said.

The woman was taken to New York Presbyterian Hospital for her injuries, police said. The NYPD could not confirm details regarding the injuries, but said the woman is expected to survive.

People who witnessed the grisly collision told the New York Post that the woman was visibly pregnant.

"I just saw her laying on the ground," a witness told the Post. "She was hysterically crying for her husband…It was her right foot, dangling off. It was not good."

The driver of the charter bus stayed on the scene and has not been charged, an NYPD spokesman told Patch.
