“PROST!” Local Care Center Celebrates Oktoberfest

Upper East Side Nursing and Rehabilitation Center Enjoys German Traditions

The Upper East Side Nursing and Rehabilitation Center recently hosted an Oktoberfest celebration to the delight of its senior citizen residents. The facility’s recreational center was decked in celebratory German décor, transplanting residents to the streets and beer halls of Munich. Dedicated staff members treated residents and volunteers to an authentic German celebration with delicious bratwursts, world renowned German potato salad and refreshing cold beer brewed in Germany. The abundance of cuisine options did not distract residents from the interactive events the facility hosted throughout the Oktoberfest celebration.

A local guitarist played German folk music for care center residents as they learned the schuhplattler – a traditional folk dance popularized in the Alpine regions of Bavaria. The lively music put the attendees in a festive mood as they celebrated all things German. The event gave attendees an opportunity to socialize and laugh with their fellow residents and provided a fun outlet to relieve the stresses of their healing journey.
