Robber Hits Second Upper East Side Bank This Month: Police

On Oct. 3 the robber entered a bank, said he had a bomb and demanded money. Police now say the man struck another Upper East Side bank.

UPPER EAST SIDE, NY —A robber that made bomb threats at an Upper East Side bank in early October attempted to rob another neighborhood bank, police told Patch.

The man entered a Chase branch on Third Avenue near East 70th Street on Thursday, Oct. 20 and slipped a note demanding money to the bank teller, police said. The teller did not comply and the bank robber fled the scene on foot with nothing to show for his efforts, police said.

Police have connected the man to a bank robbery that occurred Oct. 3 at a Chase branch on East 79 Street, between Second and Third avenues. During that robbery the man slipped the teller a note saying he had a bomb and demanded money, police said. The teller gave the man $1,000 and he fled the scene on foot, police said.

The man was captured on bank surveillance cameras during both robberies. During the Oct. 3 robbery the man was wearing a white baseball cap which covered his face and during the most recent robbery the man was wearing a black hat. Police described the man as in his 30s, standing about 6-foot and with a beard.
