Robbers Steal Fur Coats Worth Millions From Upper East Side Store

Three robbers threw a brick through a window of the Madison Avenue store during a Saturday morning heist.

UPPER EAST SIDE, NY — Police are searching for three men who broke into a high-end fur store Saturday morning on the Upper East Side and walked out with merchandize worth millions. Talk about last-minute Christmas shopping.

Three suspects broke into Dennis Basso Inc. — located on Madison Avenue near East 69th Street — by throwing a brick through one of the store's windows around 5 a.m., police told Patch. Police are investigating the robbery and do not currently have descriptions of the suspects. an NYPD spokeswoman told Patch.

The robbers were able to walk away from the heist with a number of the high-end store's luxury coats, police told Patch.

A manager from the store told Eyewitness News that the stolen goods are worth millions of dollars.

"We already identified about 20 major pieces that were missing," the manager told Eyewitness News. "These guys knew what they were doing because they targeted the very expensive sable coats and chinchillas."

Police are working with the store to figure out exactly what was stolen, an NYPD spokeswoman told Patch.
