Russian Diplomat Found On Election Day Died Of Natural Causes: Medical Examiner
Police found the 63-year-old diplomat suffering from head trauma at the Russian Consulate on the Upper East Side.
UPPER EAST SIDE, NY — The New York City Medical Examiner’s officer has ruled that a 63-year-old Russian diplomat found dead at the nation’s Upper East Side consulate on Election Day died naturally.
Police responded to the consulate, located on E. 91st St. near Madison Avenue, around 6:56 a.m. on Nov. 8 and found the body of a man who was suffering from head trauma, police told Patch. The man — later identified as Sergei Krivov — was unconscious, unresponsive and EMS pronounced him dead on the scene, police said.
On Tuesday the Medical Examiner ruled that Krivov’s death was natural and due to by complications caused by a probable neoplasm, according to Newsday reporter Pervaiz Shallwani. A neoplasm is an "abnormal mass of tissue that results when cells divide more than they should or do not die when they should," according to the National Cancer Institute.

Krivov’s death garnered significant attention because it occurred on Election day during an election cycle dominated by reports of Russia’s attempted interference in the election.
Democratic Candidate Hillary Clinton accused Russian officials of hacking her email server and the email server of the Democratic National Convention in order to influence the vote.

Donald Trump, who eventually won the election, openly encouraged Russians to hack U.S. officials during the campaign before claiming that he was just joking. Since the election President Trump has come under intense media scrutiny for his alleged ties to Russia and had to fire former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn for lying about a conversation with a Russian diplomat.
