Police officers broke up an attempted assault at an Upper East Side subway station this week, days after another assault at a nearby stop.

UPPER EAST SIDE, NY — Police stopped an attempted sexual assault at an Upper East Side subway station on Sunday, days after another assault at a nearby stop, according to the NYPD.

Around 9:18 p.m. Sunday, the victim, a 68-year-old woman, was riding a southbound Q train at 96th Street — sitting across from the suspect, a 34-year-old man.

The man exposed his genitals, approached the woman and tried to place them in her mouth, according to police. When she began to yell, the man grabbed her by the arm, trying to keep her quiet, police said.

He then fled the station on a southbound 6 train.

Police released images of the man, who they said was wanted for sexual assault.
