Sleeping Man Robbed On Upper East Side Train, Police Say
The man was riding a northbound Q through the Upper East Side when he was robbed.

UPPER EAST SIDE, NY — The NYPD is trying to identify a man wanted for robbing sleeping passengers on an Upper East Side subway train, police said.
The suspect was riding a northbound Q train on the night of Thursday, Jan. 18 as it approached the 96th Street station, police said. The suspect approached a 32-year-old man who had fallen asleep on the train and took an iPhone, iPad, MetroCard, credit cards and $15 in cash from the sleeping man's messenger bag, police said.
After the robbery, the suspect moved to a different car on the train, police said. A passenger who witnessed the theft exited the train and snapped a photo of the suspect while standing on the platform, police said.

When the victim woke up, he boarded a southbound Q train to this intended destination and reported the theft, police said. The victim was not injured during the robbery.
The suspect is described as a man who was last seen wearing a burgundy sweat-suit, a camouflage jacket and yellow and black sneakers, police said.
