The annual Upper East Side road race will be held on the Upper East Side on Saturday, Sept. 3.
UPPER EAST SIDE, NY — Suffering from serious Olympics withdrawal? On Saturday, 18 Olympians will compete in the professional field of the annual 5th Avenue Mile road race on the Upper East Side, the New York Road Runners announced Monday.
Headlining the field will be Rio Olympics gold medalist Matthew Centrowitz and bronze medalists Jenny Simpson, Emma Coburn and Clayton Murphy, according to the announcement.
“The New Balance 5th Avenue Mile field will be full of star power, with Jenny aiming to defend her title and become the most iconic athlete in the race’s history, and Matthew looking for another first-place finish after a dream Olympic trip to Rio,” said Peter Ciaccia, president of events for New York Road Runners in a statement.
