Woman, 91, Beaten And Robbed In Her Upper East Side Apartment, Police Say

Police discovered the victim lying on her apartment floor after neighbors heard screams for help.

UPPER EAST SIDE, NY — Police discovered a 91-year-old woman lying on the floor of her Upper East Side apartment after she was assaulted and robbed last weekend, an NYPD spokesman told Patch.

Police responded to an apartment building on East 66th Street near Third Avenue on Saturday after neighbors heard screams for help coming from the victim's apartment, an NYPD spokesman told Patch. Officers arrived at the apartment around 8 a.m. and found the victim lying on the floor.

The woman told police she had been struck in the face with an object and her attacker stole valuables from the home, an NYPD spokesman said. The woman suffered minor scratches and bruises and was treated at an area hospital, police said.

No arrests have been made and an investigation into the violent robbery is ongoing. The NYPD did not have a description of a suspect.
