Victim Hit And Killed By Taxi On Upper East Side Had Fallen From Another Cab, NYPD Says
Before being run over by a taxi driver, who fled the scene, a woman had fallen into the street from another cab.

UPPER EAST SIDE, NY — A woman struck and killed by a taxi on the Upper East Side had fallen out of a different taxi and into the street moments before she was run over, police told Patch.
The victim — who has not been identified but is believed to be a homeless woman in her 30s — fell from the back seat of a 2015 Toyota Camry taxi into the middle of Lexington Avenue between East 69th and 68th streets shortly after 5 a.m. Wednesday, police told Patch. Moments later, a second yellow cab ran over the woman, police said. Both vehicles fled the scene, police said.
The driver of the first cab was arrested at his Bronx home, police said. Azizur Mazumder, 46, will face charges of reckless endangerment and leaving the scene of an accident, police said.

The taxi driver who hit the woman had not been arrested as of Thursday morning, police said.

Officers found the victim lying in Lexington Avenue around 5:07 a.m., police said. She was transported to New York Hospital where she was pronounced dead. Police have not yet released her name.
