Woman Tackled, Sexually Assaulted On Upper East Side Street: Police
A woman walking down Yorkville street was tackled and assaulted by a stranger, according to police, who shared photos of the suspect.
UPPER EAST SIDE, NY — A woman walking down an Upper East Side street was tackled and sexually assaulted by a stranger, according to police, who are asking for help identifying the suspect.
The June 11 attack unfolded on the corner of East 81st Street and First Avenue, where police say the 30-year-old woman was walking shortly after midnight.
The unidentified man approached from behind, tackled the woman to the ground, and began to grope her breasts while kissing her face, according to police.

The woman fought off the attacker, who then stood up and ran southbound along First Avenue, according to police. The woman declined medical attention for minor injuries to her back, according to authorities.
Police on Wednesday released surveillance photos and video showing the man near the site of the attack, shortly beforehand.

Police described the suspect as a short man with a medium build and black hair. He was last seen carrying a dark-colored backpack and wearing a white long-sleeved T-shirt with designs on the front, light-colored blue jeans, and sneakers, police said.
He was last seen fleeing west along East 82nd Street toward Second Avenue following the attack, according to police.
