1 Dead After Fire At UWS Senior Housing Building: FDNY
The blaze broke out shortly before 7:30 a.m. Saturday on the 10th floor of a building that provides housing for seniors.

UPPER WEST SIDE, NY — One person is dead after a fire broke out on the 10th floor of an apartment building on the Upper West Side on Saturday.
According to an FDNY spokesperson, crews responded to 111 W. 71 St. between Columbus and Amsterdam Avenues around 7:30 a.m. after a fire alarm alerted them to the blaze.
Crews brought the fire under control by 8:05 a.m., the spokesperson said.

The building where the blaze was reported provides subsidized housing for senior citizens, the New York Post reported.
Authorities did not identify the victim.
