2 Women Attacked On UWS Sidewalk, Police Say

The suspect is still on the loose, police said.

UPPER WEST SIDE, NY — Police are searching Thursday for a suspect after two women were assaulted on the Upper West Side, New York City Police Department officials said.

According to the NYPD, the man approached a 31-year-old woman at 8:23 p.m. on Tuesday near West 60th Street and Amsterdam Avenue, punching her in the face with a closed fist, causing her to fall to the ground.

A minute later, the man approached a 27-year-old woman and punched her with a closed fist to the face, causing a laceration to her nose.

Then, the suspect ran away, heading toward Amsterdam Avenue on West 60th Street.

Both women were treated on the scene for injuries and not hospitalized, police said.

Police are searching for the suspect and investigating the incident.

Police have released surveillance photos of the suspect, who was last seen wearing a tan jacket.
