5 Injured In Upper West Side Fire, FDNY Says

Five people were injured Wednesday afternoon in a fire on the Upper West Side.

UPPER WEST SIDE, NY — Five people were injured when a fire broke out in an Upper West Side high-rise building Wednesday afternoon.

The fire occurred shortly after 12 p.m. in a 12-story apartment building on West 84th Street between Riverside Drive and West End Avenue, an FDNY spokeswoman said. Firefighters arrived on scene shortly after 12 p.m and had the fire under control by 12:40, the spokeswoman said.

Of the five injured, three suffered minor injuries and were taken to St. Luke's hospital. Two people received medical attention at the scene of the fire, an FDNY spokeswoman said.
