81-Year-Old Attacked On The UWS, Police Say

Following the assault, the suspect ran away and was last seen heading downtown on Amsterdam Avenue, police said.

UPPER WEST SIDE, NY — An 81-year-old man was punched multiple times in the face on Sunday morning on the Upper West Side, and police are looking for the suspect, the New York City Police Department said.

According to the NYPD, the assault was reported on Sunday at approximately 8:45 a.m.

The victim was walking in front of 2049 Broadway near 71st Street when he was approached and attacked by the man, who punched the victim multiple times in the face, police said.

Following the assault, the suspect ran away and was last seen heading downtown on Amsterdam Avenue, police said.

Medics treated the victim at the 20th Precinct on the Upper West Side. Police have released a surveillance camera photo of the suspect and said no arrests have been made yet, but the investigation is underway.
