UPPER WEST SIDE, NY — During primary election season, endorsements are the name of the game, and on the Upper West Side, Democratic candidates for Assembly District 69 Stephanie Ruskay and Eli Northrup are both stacking them up.

The district, which covers a portion of the Upper West Side and Morningside Heights, will be voting for a new representative as the current Assemblymember, Micah Lasher, is running for Congress.

The Democratic primary is scheduled for Tuesday, June 23.

"Rabbi Stephanie Ruskay’s extraordinary background and moral clarity on the contentious issues of the day will serve her well in Albany," Hoylman-Sigal said.

Ruskay is also endorsed by New York City Comptroller Mark Levine, City Council Majority Leader Shaun Abreu, Assemblymembers Deborah Glick and Keith Powers, former Manhattan Borough President Ruth Messinger, and 32BJ SEIU.

Northrup has been collecting endorsements, too, from former Upper West Side Councilmember Helen Rosenthal, the New York Working Families Party, Broadway Democrats, Three Parks Independent Democrats, the Upper West Side Action Group, Columbia Democrats, and the labor union UAW Region 9A.

He’s also received endorsements from several elected officials, including State Senator Jabari Brisport, Assemblymember Emily Gallagher, and City Councilmember Harvey Epstein.

"A public defender and longtime WFP champion, Eli brings a vital voice for justice, economic stability, and real support for the most vulnerable New Yorkers. We’re ready to win with Eli in AD-69," the Working Families Party wrote in a statement on X (formerly Twitter).
