UPPER WEST SIDE, NY — Aperture, the influential photography nonprofit and publisher known for its taste-making quarterly magazine, will open the doors to its new permanent home on the Upper West Side this September, establishing a new cultural destination in the neighborhood.

The organization said its new headquarters at 380 Columbus Ave. at West 78th Street will officially open on Sept. 18, with an inaugural installation titled "Aperture Loves New York."

The exhibition will pay tribute to photographers whose work has helped define New York City while also reflecting the city's influence on their artistic vision, the publisher said.

Featured artists include Diane Arbus, Dawoud Bey, Robert Frank, Nan Goldin, Deana Lawson, Carrie Mae Weems and several others whose work has been closely connected to both Aperture and New York.

"Our new home marks an exciting chapter for Aperture," Executive Director Sarah Meister said. "At 380 Columbus, we are creating an open, dynamic space for encountering photography—one that invites dialogue, fosters discovery, and brings us into closer engagement with our community."

The approximately 10,000-square-foot space spans two floors of a historic 1886 building.

Designed by New York architecture firm LEVENBETTS, the facility will include exhibition areas, event spaces, offices, a bookstore and gallery presentations highlighting emerging and established photographers. Visitors will also be able to see aspects of Aperture's publishing work through views into key workspaces.

Aperture's opening celebrations will continue throughout the fall with public programs tied to the "Aperture Loves New York" installation and the organization's upcoming publishing season.
