NEW YORK CITY — Polls closed at 9 p.m. on Tuesday in New York City, where candidates Eli Northrup and Stephanie Ruskay are both vying for Assemblymember Micah Lasher's seat, who was just elected to Congress.
Assembly District 69 includes parts of the Upper West Side, Morningside Heights, Harlem and Central Park.
Northrup, a public defender and policy advocate, is the projected winner of the race, with roughly 60 percent of the vote and more than 98 percent of ballots counted.
However, all results are unofficial until the Board of Elections certifies them. Once all the votes are tallied and certified by the New York City Board of Elections, the official final totals will be announced.
