Baby Store Giggle To Close NYC Locations, Hold Final Sale

The high-end children's and baby store is holding a liquidation sale at its Upper West Side location.

NEW YORK, NY — High-end baby and children's clothing store Giggle, which operated three brick-and-mortar locations in New York City, is going out of business, according to an email sent to the store's customers.

Giggle has already closed two of its retail locations — 1033 Lexington Ave. near East 74th Street on the Upper East Side and 451 West Broadway near Prince Street in SoHo — and will hold a liquidation sale at its Upper West Side location, according to the store's announcement. The Upper West Side store is located at 352 Amsterdam Ave. between West 76th and 77th streets.

Inventory from the shuttered Upper East Side and SoHo stores will be sent to the Upper West Side location for the sale and will be offered at 50 percent of the original price. Gift cards, returns or exchanges purchased before Sept. 20 will not be honored during the liquidation sale, according to the clothing store.

"Unsecured creditors of giggle, Inc., including holders of gift cards, will be given an opportunity to file proofs of claim with the Court and, at the conclusion of the proceeding, may receive a dividend from the assignee to the extent monies are available after creditors having senior rights to payment (i.e., administrative creditors, secured creditors, and priority creditors) have been paid. The assignee cannot at this time estimate the extent to which unsecured creditors will be paid, if anything, on account of their claims," reads a message on Giggle's website.

The retailer has decided to shut down due to competition from online sales, the New York Post reported. In addition to its New York City locations, Giggle operated stores in Denver, San Francisco and Santa Monica. Those stores will also close, according to the retailer.
