Body Found Floating Near Upper West Side Pier, Police Say

A 26-year-old man was pronounced dead after being pulled from the Hudson River near an Upper West Side pier.

UPPER WEST SIDE, NY — A man's body was pulled from the Hudson River Wednesday morning after it was spotted floating near an Upper West Side pier, an NYPD spokeswoman told Patch.

The unidentified 26-year-old man's body was recovered from the river around 7:30 a.m. Wednesday morning and the man was pronounced dead on the scene, an NYPD spokeswoman said. The body had been seen floating by the north side of a pier on West 59th Street and 12th Avenue before it was pulled from the water, police said.

The city medical examiner will investigate the man's cause of death, an NYPD spokeswoman told Patch.
