'Broadway Bandit' With Deformed Lip Wanted For String Of Bank Heists, Police Say
A man is robbing banks from Union Square to the Upper West Side, police said.

NEW YORK CITY, NY — A bank robber with a deformed lip has earned the name the "Broadway Bandit" after targeting banks from Union Square to the Upper West Side, police said.
The suspect's crime spree began Aug. 16 when he attempted to rob a bank near Union Square. The man entered an HSBC branch at 15 Union Square West and handed the teller a note demanding money, police told Patch. The man got nothing from the robbery and fled the bank, police said.

Later the same day he successfully robbed a Chase bank in Midtown, police said. The man entered the bank, at 1260 Broadway near West 32nd Street, around 1:40 p.m. and demanded money from a teller, police said. The man fled with an undetermined amount of money.
Two days later the robber surfaced further uptown when he unsuccessfully tried to rob a Chase bank on 2099 Broadway, located near West 73rd Street. On Aug. 20 he struck again on the Upper West Side at 1860 Broadway between West 61st and 62nd streets, police told Patch.

The man is described as in his 40s with a dark complexion and short black hair, police said. NYPD photos of the man appear show a deformity to his bottom lip.
