More About the Exhibition:
The featured works explore a variety of themes, with many artists drawing inspiration from nature, history, memory, and their own pedagogical philosophies. Attendees will experience a diverse range of mediums, including painting, drawing, photography, printmaking, and collage, reflecting the richly original practices of these educators.
Curated by Carmen Recio, one of the exhibiting artists and an educator at BASIS Independent Manhattan, "Creators, Educators" celebrates the dialogue between teaching and art-making. The exhibition powerfully demonstrates that these two practices are deeply intertwined, each enriching and expanding the other.
The participating artists represent a range of New York's educational institutions, including private and public K-12 schools, renowned colleges and universities, and various community arts organizations, studios, and museums. These talented educators are: Andrea Aimi, Danny Arenas, Caroline Blum, Liz Delaney, Chris Floyd, Julia Forrest, Norma Greenwood, Miranda Jang, Brandon Lamberty, Nicholas Leeper, Emily Linares, Avani Patel, David Pierce, Andrew Race, Carmen Recio, Lynne Rosenberg, Noelle Salaun, and Catherine Stack.
