New Swing Sextet first graced a New York stage at the 1965 World's Fair; 60 years later they are still swinging throughout the city. Known for their blend of Latin jazz, pop and salsa – as well as contributions to the NYC-born genre of boogaloo — New Swing Sextet recorded four albums for Cotique records before disbanding in the early 1970s. Following a 25-year hiatus, the group reunited to release new material – including the Grammy-nominated Back on the Streets via Fania in 2008. Today, the band shares their classic New York sound with contemporary audiences: big percussion, vibrophone, harmonies, and swinging rhythms for salsa dancers. Step out on the Atrium dance floor at this month's ¡VAYA!, and step back in time with the New Swing Sextet.
