Central Park Tour Guide's Pedicab Stolen on Upper West Side

A man who runs a private Central Park tour company says he's been out of business since two men stole his pedicab on Dec. 27.

UPPER WEST SIDE, NY — A man who gives private pedicab tours in Central Park is out of business after two crooks stole his vehicle while it was parked on the Upper West Side.

The pedicab — which was parked on West 70th Street near Central Park West — was stolen Dec. 27 around 1:25 a.m., police told Patch. Two men drove up to the pedicab in a rental truck, got out of their vehicle, cut the chain on the pedicab and loaded it into the truck, police told Patch. The unidentified men then drove away in the rental truck, heading north on Central Park West.

Madison Reyes, the owner of the pedicab, said his private tour company has been out of business since the vehicle was stolen.

"This wasn't just a bike. This pedicab was my how I make a living," Reyes said on a GoFundMe campaign. "Now because some guys thought it would be a good idea to load my bike into a budget truck, the day after Christmas, I am out of business. It's a shame."

Reyes will need to raise $6,000 to buy a new pedicab, have it delivered to New York and transfer over his registration, he said on the GoFundMe page.

The NYPD told Patch they have not named any suspects int he pedicab theft, but are still investigating.
