Community Policing Program Comes To Upper West Side, Report Says
The neighborhood policing program was first launched in 2015.

UPPER WEST SIDE, NY — The NYPD is expanding its neighborhood policing program by training six officers in the Upper West Side's 24th precinct to become neighborhood coordination officers (NCOs), neighborhood blog the West Side Rag first reported.
Neighborhood coordination officers are trained to serve as both liaisons between the police force and local community as well as crime fighters, according to the NYPD website. The specialized officers attend community meetings, familiarize themselves with local residents and even hand out personal contact information.
The six NCOs assigned to the 24th Precinct — which spans West 86th Street to West 110th Street on the Upper West Side — will split the precinct into three different sectors.
