Cop Struck By Moped Near UWS Park During 2-Wheeler Theft: NYPD
The NYPD officer was trying to stop a suspect tampering with a stolen scooter when he was struck by another two-wheeler, police said.
UPPER WEST SIDE, NY - An NYPD officer was struck by a moped on the Upper West Side Thursday afternoon while trying to stop a man from stealing another two-wheeler, authorities said.
The officer went to stop a man tampering with a moped about 2:15 p.m. near West 83rd Street and Riverside Drive when a moped-mounted man struck the cop with his vehicle, police said.
Medics transported the officer to Mount Sinai Morningside Hospital where he was treated for an ankle injury and listed in stable condition.

The two suspects fled the area after the officer was hit, police said. The moped-mounted suspect was last seen wearing a gray coat, black pants and baseball cap. The suspect tampering with the stolen moped was last seen fleeing on foot into Riverside Park wearing a dark jacket and dark pants.
No arrests have been announced as of Friday morning. The investigation is ongoing.
