Ed's Chowder House Closes After 9 Years On Upper West Side

The seafood restaurant was located in the ground floor of the Empire Hotel across the street from Lincoln Center.

UPPER WEST SIDE, NY — A seafood restaurant in the Upper West Side's Empire Hotel has closed after nearly a decade in business, the restaurant confirmed.

Ed's Chowder House on West 63rd Street between Broadway and Columbus Avenue announced on its website that the eatery closing its doors permanently after nine years. The business thanked its customers and staff in a statement placed on the website's home page.

"After 9 wonderful years, Ed's Chowder House has closed. Thank you to all our loyal staff and patrons."

Anybody with unused gift cards for the restaurant is asked to call (212) 262-0028 x2211 to ask about refunds.

The restaurant was located on the ground floor of the tony, four-star Empire Hotel. Its position across the street from Lincoln Center made it a destination for meals before and after shows at the performing arts venue.
