Elevated Lead Levels Recorded At 2 Upper West Side Schools
Testing by the city found that multiple water sources in two Upper West Side public schools had high concentrations of lead.
UPPER WEST SIDE, NY — Elevated lead levels were recorded in multiple faucets at two Upper West Side public schools, according to the Department of Education.
Two water samples taken at PS 87 and three samples taken at PS 9 in January tested for high concentration of lead, according to the Department of Education's water safety website. The elevated lead levels were noticed during routine testing performed in January, according to the department's website.
In both schools hundreds of faucets tested for normal lead levels.
