Group Targets Deliverymen On UWS Robbery Spree, Police Say

A group of eight people are wanted in connection with two violent robberies on the Upper West Side.

UPPER WEST SIDE, NY — The NYPD are trying to identify members of an eight-person group who assaulted and robbed two deliverymen in one night on the Upper West Side, police said.

Both attacks occurred on Sunday, Dec. 10, after 8 p.m., police said. The first assault occurred on West 71st Street between Broadway and West End Avenue when a 36-year-old deliveryman was approached by the group, police said.

Members of the eight-person group approached the deliveryman and began to punch him in the body and face, police said. The attackers stole the man's cellphone and food and fled the scene, police said.

Shortly after the first attack, the group approached a 35-year-old man on Riverside Drive near West 79th Street, police said. As the man was locking up his bicycle, members of the group began to punch and kick him, police said.

During the attack, the man's food, wallet and cellphone were stolen, police said.

Police recently released surveillance video of the eight-person group walking down an Upper West Side street. The NYPD was unable to provide identifying details for members of the group
