Here are 5 of the Best Pizzerias on the Upper West Side

Some of the best pizza in the U.S., even the world, can be found in New York. Find out where to grab a slice by you.

UPPER WEST SIDE, NY — New York is the home to the best pizza in the United States, and don't let anyone tell you differently. Anyone who would try to convince you that — as the great Jon Stewart put it — the "tomato soup in a bread bowl" served up in Chicago is better than New York pizza is a sad, sad individual.

So why on earth would anyone living in New York ever order pizza from one of the big chains? Leave that to the suburbanites. Patch checked out what your fellow New Yorkers had to say on Yelp to determine where you should be grabbing a slice on the Upper West Side.

Here are five of the best pizzerias on the Upper West Side according to reviews on Yelp:

Freddie & Pepper’s — 303 Amsterdam Avenue

Yelp reviewer Talha A said: "Great slice of NY pizza, really busy and you might not get s seat since space is limited, but well worth the $3.50-$4 for a slice, great sauce to cheese ratio all on top of a good crust."

Pizzeria Sirenetta — 568 Amsterdam Avenue

Denise R loved the pizza, and the staff: "This place was excellent !! Outside seating was perfect for a great weathered day. Ordered the tomato, spicy salami, olives and buffalo mozzarella. Such a great authentic Neopoliten pie. Delicious till the last bite, perfect crunchy yet not over cooked. The spicy salami will ensure a flavorful bite."

Numero 28 Upper West Side — 660 Amsterdam Avenue

Una P said: "We ordered several dishes but i would stick with Octopus as the app, than you can continue with an oven baked pizza... The food transported me to Europe. The best thing was the staff and ambience indeed. Our server suggested a bottle of wine to pair with the food, and it made our experience even more enjoyable. The management is amazing."

Koronet Pizza — 2848 Broadway

Gabriel P loved the huge slices: "Guys (and gals), seriously, you've gotta try this place. Bring your cash with you because I don't think they accept cards, but for $4.50 you can have one of the best (and BIGGEST) pizzas in the city.I always go for the plain one, and one slice is probably the size of 3 to 4 average pizza slices. The flavours are also very good, very tasteful, and one slice will probably fill you up very quickly!"

La Traviata Pizzeria — 101 W 68th St

Yelper Ali T said: "What a NYC cheese pizza should taste like :)Amazing crust with just the right flavor and crisp to it.Friendly & efficient service.Used to come her several years ago when lived nearby and recently have kept revisiting it. It is now one of my favorite pizza places."
