Jing Fong Dim Sum Opens On Upper West Side

The chinatown dim sum favorite opened an expansion location on Amsterdam Avenue and West 78th Street.

UPPER WEST SIDE, NY — A massive Chinatown dim sum institution has soft-opened its first expansion location in the Upper West Side.

At 2,000 square feet, Jing Fong's Amsterdam Avenue location is tiny compared to its 20,000 square-foot chinatown space, but much of the menu remains intact. The Upper West Side dim sum spot will serve up Jing Fong's authentic Cantonese dishes such as Peking Pork Chop and Honey Walnut Prawns as well as Chinese food staples including Chicken and Broccoli.

But Jing Fong fans know that the restaurant's dim sum is the main attraction. Unlike the Chinatown location Jing Fong Upper West Side will not feature roving dim sum carts, but diners can still enjoy dishes such as Har Gow, Siu Mai and BBQ Pork Buns. The restaurant will also feature exclusive seating at the "Chef’s Counter" — a 10 seat table with views into the kitchen.

Starting July 26 the restaurant will debut summer hours from 5-10 p.m. on weekdays and 11 a.m.-10 p.m. on weekends. After Labor Day, Jing Fong Upper West Side will open daily at 11 a.m.
